“I recently read Bush Breaks a Vase to my students, and we absolutely loved it. It was especially meaningful knowing that Jealene’s youngest boy is in my class, which made the story feel even more personal and special for us. What stood out to me the most was the way Bush’s mom responds after he disobeys and accidentally breaks the vase. Instead of reacting with anger, she gives him grace. That moment sparked such an important message—not just for children, but for adults as well. Many times, we don’t give children enough grace when they are simply being children.
